About Colorado's Front Range

Welcome to the Colorado's Front Range!

That's what residents call the region between the western edge of the Great Plains and the eastern shoulders of the Rocky Mountains.  It's a diverse area of great beauty; from rolling, prairie wheat fields to piney hills and high alpine meadows, from quaint, historic towns to the thriving, cosmopolitan city of Boulder.

Boulder is a regional hub of culture, education, atmospheric and environmental research, high-tech industry and outdoor recreation. Art, music, dance and entertainment abound.  The outdoor Pearl Street Mall will delight you with great shopping and fun entertainment provided by street buskers. World-class athletes have made Boulder their training center. The possibilities for recreation are unlimited.

All these attributes, along with a diverse and healthy economy, have combined to make this city one of the most attractive places to live and work in America.  One of the unique features that gives Boulder an enviable quality-of-life is the extensive surrounding open space. Our community   now boasts tens of thousands of acres of land preserved for beauty, wildlife and recreation along with more than 140 miles of hiking and biking trails.

Within the beautiful Boulder Valley, there are a number of outstanding communities that offer their own flavor, attractions and our western quality of life.  The area offers intellectual, environmental and athletic opportunities.   The surrounding cities offer historical main streets in Louisville, Lafayette, Longmont and Golden.   And, the Boulder area is just a heartbeat away from Denver which hosts major events, arts, festivals and commerce.

The Boulder area climate is temperate, semi-arid, high plains, meaning low rainfall (approximately 16 to 18 inches per year), low humidity, four distinct seasons and more than 300 days of sunshine annually! In the summer, days are sunny and warm (typically in the 80s and 90s, but rarely going to triple digits); nights almost always provide cool relief.  Winters are moderately cold and even dryer on average, but we usually have a good cold snap and a big snowstorm or two. March and April are the wettest months, and do wonders for rejuvenating our reservoirs.  Fortunately, by this time the sunshine is plentiful and the snow disappears quickly.  For much of the year you can enjoy world class golfing one day and world class skiing the next, both just a short drive away.
